China-ASEAN cooperation has entered a new stage, continuing the good story of cooperation and expanding economic and trade investment. The China-ASEAN cooperation has witnessed nearly 20 years of development since the first China-ASEAN Expo in 2004. The previous 20 expos laid a foundation for the promotion of bilateral trade, upgrading the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area from version 1.0 to 2.0, and moving towards version 3.0. According to statistics, the bilateral trade volume between China and ASEAN countries has increased from 876.38 billion yuan in 2004 to 6.41 trillion yuan in 2023, with an average annual growth rate of 11%, far exceeding the overall growth rate of China's foreign trade during the same period. China has remained the largest trading partner of ASEAN for 15 consecutive years, while ASEAN has been China's largest trading partner for four consecutive years.

Currently, China-ASEAN cooperation is at the beginning of a new stage. Faced with new circumstances, the China-ASEAN Expo injects new impetus into cooperation through innovation and change. This year's expo has set several 'firsts,' deepening the connotation of China-ASEAN cooperation and attracting more like-minded partners to jointly create a blueprint for mutual benefit and win-win results. The strong complementarity of industrial structures, support for economic globalization, and the joint responsibility for maintaining peace all contribute to the steady progress of cooperation between China and ASEAN. China's manufacturing development aligns with the industrialization needs of many ASEAN countries, fostering an exchange of advanced technology, products, and capital. The success of cooperation between the two sides serves as a model for South-South cooperation and establishes a solid foundation for long-term stable cooperation.

In the context of globalization, China-ASEAN cooperation continues to deepen. Both sides are staunch supporters of globalization, promoting economic cooperation through measures such as the establishment of a free trade area. China's Belt and Road Initiative has gained support from multiple ASEAN countries, expanding the scope of cooperation. ASEAN actively responded to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, becoming one of the largest population and economic trade zones in the world. The joint effort to maintain peace is also a vital part of the cooperation between the two sides, collectively safeguarding peace and stability in the South China Sea region.

Looking ahead, China-ASEAN will take the construction of the Free Trade Area 3.0 as an opportunity to further promote practical cooperation, scale new heights, and set a new benchmark for 'Global South' and regional cooperation, ultimately constructing a closer community with shared future. The immense potential and infinite possibilities of cooperation between the two sides will not only benefit the people of both countries but also make a positive contribution to regional and global economic development. The fundamental goal of China-ASEAN cooperation is to jointly build a community with a shared future, achieving common development and prosperity.
